AMD: Things are not looking good for chip manufacturer AMD as sources tell us that there are fears of more job losses in the current economic climate. There has been no official comment but sales have taken a big hit in the run up to Christmas which has always been a good time. Perhaps they should raise their game if they intend to compete in the new year.

Crucial Ballistix: Those lucky readers getting Intel's Core i7 from Santa should stay tuned as we will be testing Crucial's new Triple Channel Ballistix memory early in the new year, which if it's true to form will be the perfect partner to any high end system.

Games News:

World of Warcraft: With over 11 Million subscribers Blizzard's hit MMORPG has had some recent unwanted attention. It appears that US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has blamed the addictive game for the increased number of people dropping out of college (university) in the United States. Here I was thinking it was the high cost and the bad economy.

Computer Hardware News:

Intel Core i7 (Nehalem) & X58: Sources have confirmed that the hugely anticipated launch of the new Core i7 Processor will take place on 17th November. The processor boasts many cutting edge features, including the use of a power envelope which allows the processor to get optimum performance and heat efficiency across all cores using a minimal and defined amount of power. Solid State Drives (SSD): We will have a number of reviews as well as a round-up of Solid State Drives from the Worlds leading manufacturers, on this technology that could potentially change how we store our data, SSD benefits from longer life, no noise, greater shock and environmental resisitance, lower power consumption and of course faster read and write times.

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770: Those nice people at Intel are special ordering their latest Quad Core Extreme Processor (QX9770), with a massive 12MB L2 Cache and a blistering 1600MHz Front Side Bus as well as their DX48BT2 Extreme Motherboard based on the Intel X48 Chipset.

Intel - The Return of Hyperthreading:

Sitting here writing my first thoughts on the upcoming Intel Core i7 Processor (codenamed Nehalem), which sees the return of a much loved technology to provide a cheap and effective boost to performance, Hyper-Threading or Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) allows a single core to function with two threads of execution. Walt Disney Blu-Ray News:

Walt Disney have announced a slate of Blu-Ray releases, featuring some all time greats including Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and Beauty and the Beast.
